Conservation of the Heart Rock Ridge Farm Expands Protection Near Bad Rock Canyon WMA

Thanks to Luci Yeats and her late husband, Dave, the 76-acre Heart Rock Ridge family farm near Columbia Falls was permanently safeguarded through a donated conservation easement with Flathead Land Trust last April.

Luci’s property, located near the Bad Rock Canyon Wildlife Management Area, helps expand conservation efforts in this vital wildlife corridor. “As a steward of this property, I appreciate the opportunity to help protect the values I grew up with, and which I have come to treasure more as the years go by. As a child, I roamed this land and the larger acreage now owned by my sisters. I look forward to seeing my grandchildren look for shed antlers, spot the first bluebirds of spring, and watch red-tailed hawks soaring overhead,” Luci reflected.

This protection preserves a rich agricultural heritage while supporting wildlife, including grizzly bears, elk, and over 75 bird species, in a rapidly developing landscape. Learn more about this property, its importance, and the family’s rich history. Click here.
